Aesop Balmain

Pale native timbers and a soft palette harmonise with the interior’s abundant natural light.

Created in partnership with local designer Henry Wilson, the design for Aesop Balmain emerged from an understanding of the neighbourhood and its history, and various materials recovered on-site.

Raw sandstone walls, fireplaces and hidden doorways revealed during renovations have been retained and exposed; while tinted concrete terrazzo references local mid-century apartment buildings. Pale native timbers and a soft palette harmonise with the interior’s abundant natural light.

Off-the-shelf industrial pieces provide solutions for fittings such as shelving and sink frames, complemented by vintage furniture and customised lighting.
